Jon Ola Sand, the Eurovision Song Contest’s Executive Supervisor since 2011, has announced that the 2020 Contest will be his last in the role. As work continues on the 65th Contest, the EBU will conduct a selective search for Jon Ola’s successor.

With just over 200 days until the Grand Final, the slogan of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv has been revealed:

Dare to Dream.

The slogan was announced by Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, who also explained the creative narrative behind it, after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss details of next year’s event.

Lys Assia, winner of the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, has passed away. She was 94 years old.

During her long and successful career, she performed for Queen Elizabeth II, the Egyptian King Faruk and Eva Peron. She was also involved with many charitable events all over the world.

Lys Assia remained a loyal supporter of the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2003, she addressed millions of viewers via a satellite link from Cyprus, wishing the contestants the best of luck ahead of the Grand Final. In 2005, she performed during Congratulations, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest and in 2008 she started the voting in Belgrade.

In 2011, she decided it would be time for her return to the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest as a contestant and she entered the Swiss national selection, becoming one of the front runners of the contest in the eyes of the fans all over Europe. However, it was not to be and Lys was not selected for Switzerland. She also applied for the Swiss ticket to the contest in 2012 but did not reach the final.

Many fans still remember her performance of her winning song Refrain in the Euroclub in 2009, in Moscow, when it seemed like no years had passed since her victory. This was understandable, as she once said: "Singing gives me back the joy of life."

In Stockholm in 2016 she took part in a special meet and greet event for fans and press where she took pictures with every single person who asked.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) has today revealed that the city chosen to host the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 will be the country’s capital and largest city, Lisbon.

The Eurovision Song contest semi finals will take place there on the 8th and 10th of May, with the Grand Final taking place on the 12th.

Kyiv, 13 February 2017: The first wave of the much anticipated ticket sales for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 will open on 14 February from 19:15 CET, it was announced today.

Up to 70,000 tickets for this year’s event in May, hosted at the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv, Ukraine, will be sold across nine shows: six dress rehearsals, two semi-finals and the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Fans will be able to purchase tickets, priced at various levels between 8 and 500 Euros, from 19:15 CET on the ticketing website www.concert.ua

Конкурс «Евровидение» пройдет в 2017 году в Киеве. Об этом объявил директор Национальной телекомпании Украины Зураб Аласания на специальном брифинге.

Заявки на проведение «Евровидения» подавали пять украинских городов: Киев, Днепр, Львов, Одесса, Харьков и Херсон.

В финальную тройку претендентов входили Киев, Одесса и Днепр. За Киев, как сообщил Аласания, было подано 19 голосов, за Одессу два голоса, еще один участник голосования воздержался.

Местом проведения конкурса выбран Международный выставочный центр (МВЦ) на левом берегу Днепра.
